COMMUNITY WATCH PROGRAM

Why it is needed

• Police are paid representatives of the public, we all share a basic civic responsibility
• People stopped being concerned about their neighbors; focus is on ourselves
• We rely on law enforcement; we don't work with law enforcement

Benefits

• Greater sense of community; it puts "neighbor" back into neighborhood
• Brings law enforcement and community closer together; stronger relationships
• Knowing your neighbors
• Strength in numbers
• Not only focused on crime

What skills are needed in a Block Captain?

• Leadership
• Coordination
• Passion
• Social

Meetings

• No more than an hour (Stay on point)
• Set goals
• Include social aspects
• Patrol together
• Accomplish goals
