CONTINUING DISCUSSION OF CONGRESS MEETINGS
Following up on discussions on May 22, the Steering Committee selected Tuesday evening, June 26, at the Greater Salisbury Building, for a larger meeting of the original "Group of 52" who had volunteered for the Congress in February. An invitation will be mailed to these individuals on or after June 5. Connie Strott volunteered to arrange the addressing of envelopes.
A draft of the invitation letter was reviewed and revised. It was decided to list the major issues enunciated by the Community Concerns Committee. An RSVP will be included, and there will be followup by e-mail and phone calls.
These major committees will report to this larger group:
Community Concerns - Widdowson or Moreno
Membership/Recruitment - Ireton
ByLaws - Poremba
Convention - Truitt.
Rocky Burnett suggested that prior to the June 26 meeting of the larger group, a report should be submitted to County Executive Rick Pollitt. Perhaps he should be invited to address the Congress participants - on June 26, and/or on September 25.
At the June 26 meeting, the Committee will firm up plans for the First Convening of the Community Congress to be held on the evening of Tuesday, September 25, from 7 to 9 PM.
Possible locations for that gathering are the Chipman Center, the Rockawalkin Community Center, the VFW in Delmar, or the new Community Foundation building in Salisbury.
NEXT STEPS
On June 5, the Steering Committee will approve for mailing the invitation letter, the membership applications, and perhaps the report to the Executive, and will discuss a meeting place for the September meeting. It was agreed that the Steering Committee will not meet on June 12, but will meet on June 19 to prepare for the June 26 larger group.
ADJOURNED at approximately 8:25 PM.
Mike Pretl
Secretary
