Minutes of Meeting

Present:

Emond, Hughes, Ireton, Lunsford, Moreno, Pilchard, Poremba, Pretl, Purnell, Strott, Truitt, Wallop, Widdowson (13).

Absent:

Dallaire, Maloney, Marine, McIver, Smith, Weiland, Wharton (7).

Also Present: John Bonas, Rocky Burnett, Francis Hools, Ann Lee, David and Lois Miller.

PRELIMINARY MATTERS

Participants introduced themselves, and spoke briefly about their families, etc. The pre-mailed Agenda was approved. There were a number of announcements of meetings in the community:

CARES is having its summer kickoff -- June 7 at 6:15 PM at Dover Dale playground

Westside Revitalization Partnership meets on June 11 at 5:30 PM at Booth St Townhouse

National Night Out is planned on August 7 at 6 PM at Lake St playground

Salisbury's Arts and Entertainment District kicks off on May 21 at noon

Dykes Rd flea market will be held on May 19

Johnson Lake event is scheduled for June 9

WET planned to frolic with the horseshoe crabs at Slaughter Beach on May 16, but weather caused postponement until May 31 (full moon/high tide)

Hebron public meeting to discuss annexation/expansion - tentatively set for fire hall on May 30

The Capt. John Smith replica is coming to Vienna on June 2

Community cleanup will begin on Elizabeth St and Railroad Ave on May 19.

DISCUSSION OF COMMITTEES REPORTS

The Steering Committee dissected in detail the three subcommittee reports from last week. Revised versions will be distributed before next meeting.

NEXT STEPS

On May 22, the Steering Committee will seek to approve the revised documents, and attempt to move forward to an initial or interim meeting of neighborhood leadership - including the 60 citizens who volunteered to support the Neighborhood Congress.
